FAQs

What is osteopathy?

Manual osteopathy increases blood flow and circulation to your joints, muscles, tendons and organs which reduces subsequent swelling and pain. This allows your body to heal faster naturally. An appointment will include a physical assessment and then I will take your body through a series of movements looking for what is called a “lesion”. The lesion is where a muscle or joint or tendon is caught or stuck and not working as well as it might which potentially can create disruption in your body. Osteopathy always treats the body as a whole unit of networking systems and seeks to have everything working in communication with each other.

What is commonly treated with manual osteopathy?

·      Chronic pain/acute pain

·      Osteoporosis

·      TMJ/mandibular malfunction

·      Migraines/headaches

·      Overall wellness by increasing flexibility and vitality

Do I have to have an injury in order to benefit from osteopathy?

Not at all! There are various techniques that I utilize for restoring and maintaining balance – this is known in manual osteopathy as a “wellness treatment.” Increasing blood flow and circulation in our bodies is essential for optimal health both physically and emotionally. This treatment is done fully clothed and lasts about an hour. The combination of techniques I use are both relaxing and stimulating. I happily have an open practice and treat patients of all ages. There is a way for me to scale the treatment based on a patients’ physical capabilities so the care is individualized and not the same for everyone.
