In my practice, I utilize traditional Chinese medicine (acupuncture, herbs, gua sha, cupping, massage and nutrition) to move a person's 'qi' or life force. By activating 'qi' I am able to elicit a healing response from the body to improve overall health.
I have received advanced training in Japanese meridian theory, orthopaedic acupuncture, shiatsu massage and structural diagnosis. I am able to blend this training with that of traditional Chinese medicine, thus creating a unique and individualized style of care for my patients.
I feel fortunate to have completed my training at the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine in Portland, Oregon. Prior to my career as an acupuncturist, I was an organic gardener for many years; the transition from gardener to acupuncturist was natural as I see many of the same organic principles applying in both professions.
Other education and life experience that led me to Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture:
Certified Horticulturalist and Arborist with 20 years+ working in the landscaping trade in Saskatchewan, Alberta, and British Columbia.
